Astralis have picked up a record-equalling third Major crown after winning IEM Katowice 2019.
The Danish high-fliers beat ENCE in a quick 2-0 series in a packed Spodek Arena to move level with fnatic's record of three Major crowns after previously winning ELEAGUE Major Atlanta, with Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye still on the roster, and the FACEIT Major.
With this victory, Astralis also became only the third team in history to win back-to-back Major titles, following in the footsteps of fnatic's 2015 squad, which won the 2015 ESL One events in Katowice and Cologne, and the Brazilian roster of Luminosity/SK, which came out on top of MLG Columbus and ESL One Cologne 2016 under two different organisations.
Astralis won their third Major title in Katowice
Astralis will be chasing a fourth Major crown at the StarLadder Major, scheduled for August 27 through September 8. After finishing 1-3 in the New Challengers Stage in Katowice, fnatic are out of the Major cycle and will have to qualify again to have a shot at winning another title.
